My Free Anti-Virus Software

This is what I am personally using on my laptop. It has never failed since. But most of all it's FREE. Check it out.

Download Here
avast! 4 Home Edition is a full-featured antivirus package designed exclusively for home users and non-commercial use. Both of these conditions should be met! Our company offers the Home Edition free of charge, since, in our
opinion, it is possible to avoid global virus spreading by efficient prevention; however, many users are not able to or do not want to pay for antivirus software. This page will show you the most important features of this program.

Institutions (even non-commercial ones) are not allowed to use avast! Home Edition. However, ALWIL Software provides the full line of avast! antivirus products at special discount prices for non-profit, charity, educational and government institutions. Please see our price lists for details.

The latest version of this program is 4.7.

Windows XP SP3 leaked

Robin Hood was revered because he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. And while it's not quite the same thing, there isn't a whole lot of sympathy being thrown towards Microsoft when it was heard that a testing release of Windows XP SP3 was leaked and is floating around the internet now. Everyone loved watching Mel Gibson prove he's an idiot. Everyone loved watching Kramer lose his mind. And everyone loves when things don't go as planned for Microsoft. We love when people who seem to have everything together show that they don't. Plus this Windows leak is an hilarious slap in the face to Steven Sinofsky's little attempt at complete secrecy. It's so fitting that he'd be unsuccessful at keeping things secret, since he looks a bit like a really terrible magician (see picture).

SP3 was given to a limited pool of testers in July, after being repeatedly delayed. It was originally planned to be release in 2005. Boy, did that ever go well. The leaked version of SP3 is not quite the finished product, or even a completed Beta, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming an incredibly popular torrent download. It comes in at around 340 Mb and can be found pretty much everywhere. But then again, you'd never download something illegally like this, would you?

Sony not selling S-Video cables for PSP Slim in US

We've got all ideas that this tidbit won't infuriate too many users, but nevertheless, Sony will reportedly not be bringing S-Video cables to America for its PSP Slim. According to GameInformer, Sony wanted to "streamline its selection, giving owners a choice between cables supporting composite, the de facto standard, and component inputs." Interestingly, both of the cables that will be for sale here will cost the same $19.99, and if you're somehow still using a television that rocks an array of S-Video ports but not a single component input, the import option is always there.

R4 “Revolution for DS”

This is a bit late but worth the read.

Every once in a while you come across a product which solves many problems and does it well. What problems you ask? How do I easily back up my DS games and have them all available (and playable) in one location. Secondly, is there a way of doing this which requires little effort and no modding knowledge?

The R4 DS Card is the solution to these problems.

From the outside, you can hardly tell this is anything special. Looking more like a memory card than a game, it is exactly the same size as a DS card. It accepts any size of Micro SD cards; mine being 2gb. As you can see, those micro SD cards are smaller than a nickel. It locks into place with a secure click.

So what exactly does this mystery card do? That is the amazing part.

It’s main use is to take any DS rom and make it playable on the DS. With an average rom size of 64mb, you can fit quite a few DS games onto a 2gb SD card. And yes, these roms are fully functional exact duplicates of DS games. Everything is the same minus the source where they are found.

The very best part about all of this is that there is no external software needed. You don’t need a synchronization program on your computer to copy certain file types over. Just drag and drop roms, video, and music onto your Micro SD card and plug ‘er in. It really is as easy as that.

Additionally, the R4 is capable of loading and playing a number of homebrew apps. I personally have Doom which takes advantage of wireless multiplayer and a NES emulator with a whole slew of NES games.

To find out where you can buy the R4, refer to its official website. R4DS.net
The website also has information on what media is accepted and other details not covered in this review.

The R4 is truly a milestone for DS homebrew. I think this leapfrogs it over the continuously dominant homebrew gorilla, the PSP. With its ease of use and variety of applications at a cheap price tag, I recommend this card to all DS owners.
